The important stuff
Quartz stone doesn't need sealing. Stay away from any cleaning products that contain trichloroethane or methylene chloride. These harsh chemicals are found in paint thinner and remover. Oven cleaners with high alkaline levels should also be avoided.
Every Day Maintenance
For day-to-day cleaning, we recommend using a Stone Care Cleaner. Strong chemicals and solvents tend to damage the stone, that's where our Stone Care Cleaner comes in. Formulated specifically to bring out the best in your stone without stripping it of it's natural properties. Avoid prolonged rubbing in one spot when cleaning.
Quartz Stone can handle brief exposures to moderately hot temperatures, however prolonged direct contact with, or radiated heat from from very hot pots can cause thermal shock, discoloration or damage. No one wants that for their stone, so shy away from placing hot pots and pans, electric frying pans and oven trays directly to your Quartz Stone.
For food preparations, we always recommend cutting on an appropriate cutting board and never directly on the Quartz Stone surface to avoid blunting kitchen knives or damaging the surface.
What if i spill something?
Should the surface be accidentally exposed to any of these damaging products, rinse immediately with water to neutralize the effect.
How to seal Granite
Upon new installation, after the granite installer has applied the sealer, leave it to dry for at least 1 hour. For the first 3 months you need to use sealer on a regular basis depending on the usage of the countertops preferably twice a week.
To seal it after your first three months, follow these hassle-free steps!
Step 1: Remove everything from the granite tops so all surface can be cleaned and sealed at the same time. Thoroughly wipe the countertops with lacquer thinners using a soft cloth then leave surface to dry.
Step 2: Use a soft non-absorbent cloth to apply the sealer evenly onto the countertops. Allow the sealer to set for 10 to 20 minutes or even longer. The granite sealer goes straight into the stone to seal and protect the stone from absorbing any liquid spills.
Step 3: Use a Stone Care Cleaner at the time you purchase the sealer for your granite. Polish helps keep the granite surface clean and protected until it is sealed again. A good stone care cleaner enhances the shine. You can pick up a bottle of our own Stone Care Cleaner at any one of our branches.

Here’s what you shouldn’t be using; Windex, acidic cleaners, like vinegar, lemon lime or anything with ammonia or bleach. Frequent use of these chemicals will dull and breakdown the sealant over time. The best way to clean the granite after it has been sealed is to use a Stone Care Cleaner. While granite is a very hard surface and less porous than marble, unsealed or weakly sealed granite will soak up liquid spills and stains.
Quick tip: to check whether your granite is sealed before using a Stone Care Cleaner, leave a few drops of water on the surface if it beads up you have a secure seal, if after a few minutes the water has soaked into the granite , then it’s time to reseal the stone.
Seasonal Maintenance
Sealing is a regular maintenance task for granite. For the first year of installation of the granite countertops, you have to reseal every six months thereafter once a year depending on how you use it
